The 2026 French MotoGP Grand Prix delivered a series of unforgettable images, including Marc Márquez’s dramatic crash that ruled him out of the championship, at least until the Catalan GP. Yet beyond the accident of the rider from Cervera, there were other, more heartwarming moments to cherish from this race at the legendary Le Mans circuit.

France experiences cycling in a unique way—after all, its roads host the world’s most important cycling race, the Tour de France. In MotoGP, many riders are cycling enthusiasts and use their free time to train on two wheels, like Jorge Martín. So it was no surprise that the paddock paid a small tribute to this sport. As in the previous year, sprinter Mark Cavendish led a special ‘Mini Tour’ around the Le Mans track on the first day of the GP, with riders as his competitors.

Cavendish wasn’t the only professional cyclist present. Slovenian Primoz Roglic also couldn’t miss the event, which saw Jorge Martín emerge as the winner, showcasing his cycling skills in the MotoGP Cycling Challenge. Alex Rins took the prize in the sprint version.

Bicycles weren’t the only vehicles riders hopped on at Le Mans. The French circuit improvised a kind of go-kart track that tested the riders’ skills, with varying degrees of success.

Home riders often take center stage at Grands Prix, and France is no exception. Johann Zarco and Fabio Quartararo were undoubtedly the men of the weekend, with the crowd at their feet, showing affection that could sometimes be overwhelming—just ask Fabio.

Details always matter, and in a sport like MotoGP, even more so. But KTM Tech3 took this premise to a new level. In their homage to the French GP, they painted three links of the motorcycle chains with the colors of the national flag.

The flag wasn’t the only French representation seen around the paddock. If there’s something even more iconic, it’s the croissant, and this French delicacy was present throughout the weekend. Bagnaia even had his own customized version to enjoy this typical pastry.

In competition, Friday didn’t go too well for Marc Márquez, who had to go through Q1 for the first time this season. The rider from Cervera didn’t lose heart and gave it his all to secure a spot in Q2. He succeeded with a circuit record, while his box watched with a mix of admiration, satisfaction, and disbelief. Always very expressive, Davide Tardozzi’s gesture said it all—sitting next to a smiling Pecco Bagnaia.

The Ducati garage experienced even stronger emotions over the weekend, from Marc’s crash in the sprint race to Pecco’s fall during the main race while chasing the podium. The reactions on the wall and the faces of the fans said everything…

Shortly after, a new chapter opened in the red garage. Bagnaia returned disappointed after his crash, and Davide Tardozzi approached him to say something that cameras couldn’t capture—but it clearly didn’t sit well with the Turin rider. Usually restrained, this time he didn’t hide his anger, raising his arm in an unmistakable gesture that said ‘leave me alone,’ and headed straight for the caravan.

Sunday’s rain at Le Mans left several crashes in competition and some minor mishaps in the garages. Riders are always going full throttle, and sometimes braking isn’t so easy… Just ask the Aprilia mechanic who had to brace himself against the more than 100 kilos of Jorge Martín’s bike. The Madrid native came in full speed to test a bike change maneuver and released the first one so quickly that…
