Ecuadorian cyclist Jhonatan Narvaez sprinted to victory on the fourth stage of the Giro d’Italia, covering 138 kilometers from Catanzaro to Cosenza. He outpaced Venezuela’s Orluis Aular and Italy’s Giulio Ciccone in a thrilling finish.

Narvaez’s win came after a fast-paced sprint, but it was Ciccone who secured the overall leader’s pink jersey by finishing third. The Italian now leads the general classification, while German rider Florian Stork, who was in contention for a strong result, dropped out of the leading group in the closing kilometers.

Stork currently sits third overall, four seconds behind Ciccone. Switzerland’s Jan Christen occupies second place in the GC standings.

The stage was split into two distinct sections. The first 80 kilometers, running along the coast to the intermediate sprint, were predominantly flat. The terrain then turned hillier, with a short plateau followed by a gradual descent into the valley and a gently rising finish into Cosenza.

The final two kilometers wound through the historic old town, where Jan Christen launched a bold attack. He looked poised to take the stage until he was caught just 400 meters from the line. Unlike the previous stage, which saw a mass crash involving around 35 riders—particularly affecting the UAE team—Stage 4 passed without any major incidents.
