Former Spartak Moscow striker Emmanuel Emenike has expressed that strong mental resilience is the key factor behind Artem Dzyuba’s ability to keep playing at a high level. Emenike, who played alongside Dzyuba at Spartak between 2011 and 2012, shared his thoughts with TASS.
The 37-year-old Dzyuba has scored eight goals in 26 Russian Premier League matches this season. His contract with FC Akron is set to expire at the end of the current campaign.
“Dzyuba is still playing? Wow. But I’m not surprised. He has always been a tough guy with a very strong mindset. That’s what allows him to keep competing. I wish him all the best,” Emenike said.
Dzyuba remains the all-time leading scorer in Russian Premier League history, holds the record for most goals by a Russian player overall, and is also the top scorer in the history of the Russian national team.
