At the end of 2024, Phil Harres scored seven goals in eight Bundesliga appearances for Holstein Kiel. Since then, the 24-year-old forward has been repeatedly linked with a multi-million transfer, though things did not go smoothly for him in the months that followed. Recently, however, Harres has rediscovered his best form. Under new head coach Tim Walter, he has netted five of his nine league goals this season in eight matches, playing a key role in the club’s four-game winning streak and ultimately securing survival for the Störche. This resurgence has reignited transfer speculation.

According to the St. Galler Tagblatt, the center-forward is now a target for St. Gallen, currently second in the Swiss Super League and chasing a spot in the Conference League qualifiers. With top scorer Alessandro Vogt (21) set to move to Hoffenheim for €2.7 million in the summer, Enrico Maaßen’s side will need a replacement for the striker.

Transfermarkt reports that several Serie A clubs, including Udinese under coach Kosta Runjaić, have also shown interest in the German forward. The Friulani are said to be impressed by his finishing ability, a quality highlighted by his coach Tim Walter: “He only needs two touches to score two goals. That’s what defines a striker. He’s always in the right place. (…) If he develops his instinct to run into space a bit more, he’ll score many more goals.”
